Five million pounds is being invested in to west Cumbria's manufacturing.
It is hoped the cash boost will help companies grow and create new jobs.
The money is coming from Britain's Energy Coast who have awarded the first £45,000 to Maryport firm 'Support in Sport' who specialise in making astro turf pitches.
Businesses of any size, can apply for grants of £10,000 upwards for investment in fixed assets such as land, buildings, plant and equipment as well as Research and Development.
Businesses can apply for the grant by visiting the Britain's energy coast website.
