A 10 year old boy is recovering in hospital after falling 50 metres down a snow-covered mountain.
The young boy from Preston was climbing down Swirral Edge ridge on Helvellyn in the Lake District with his father when he slipped on a steep slope.
Members of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called to the scene.
A doctor and paramedic were then taken to the ridge by air ambulance, where they treated the boy.
He is said to be recovering well in the RVI hospital in Newcastle.
