Despite a feed of wintry showers from the northeast for parts of Cumbria today, many places have remained dry but very cold.
Dumfries and Galloway will continue to see largely dry conditions with clear spells as we head into tonight. Elsewhere there is a risk of scattered wintry showers. All parts of the region will experience a frost, bringing the risk of ice to untreated surfaces.
According to provisional Met Office statistics this has been the coldest March for 50 years.
