A man has been flown to hospital by air ambulance after falling 100 metres from Helvellyn, the Lake District's third highest mountain. The 27 year old from Cheshire dislocated his shoulder and fractured his ankle.

Man recovers from 100 metre Helvellyn fall

A 27-year-old man is recovering after falling 100 metres from Helvellyn, the Lake District's third highest mountain.

He was climbing above Red Tarn and suffered a dislocated shoulder and a fractured ankle. The man, from Cheshire, was airlifted to hospital.
