The election of the new Pope is being widely welcomed within the Catholic Church.
Pope Francis is beginning his first day in charge after being elected in Rome last night (13th March).
The 76-year-old Argentinian faces tough challenges with the Church dogged by sex abuse scandals and allegations of corruption, but religious leaders here say he is the right man for the job.
