Grand National winner targets triple at Carlisle

Grand National winning trainer Sue Smith is aiming for a triple victory at Carlisle Racecourse today.

She is hoping to capitalise on the shock success at Aintree, where Auroras Encore took victory in the world's most famous race.

Ryan Mania from Galashiels, who rode the 66-1 outsider, will miss out on the meeting, after sustaining injuries from a fall at Hexham on Sunday (7th April).

Mrs Smith has three horses running, with Alta Rock in the 2.20, Rebel Swing in the 4.25 and Highrate in the 4.55.

"What a great way to bring the curtain down on our 2012-13 jumps season by having three horses here from the same stable as the Grand National winner.

"Sue is a great supporter of Carlisle so it was great to see her win on Saturday - and Auroras Encore was a winner here at Carlisle in March 2009.

"It would have been great to have had Ryan here too as planned after his success in the National but it will still be a great afternoon's racing. We wish him all the very best for a full and speedy recovery."
