A two-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a family dog in Cumbria.
Police said the child suffered facial injuries during the incident at an address on Gilbert Road, Cummersdale, near Carlisle at around 2:40pm. He has since undergone surgery at the Cumberland Infirmary.
The dog has been placed in kennels pending a joint investigation with social services, Cumbria Police said.

The young female, believed to be a Staffy cross Border collie, was spotted wandering in the Mirehouse area of Whitehaven.
Cumbria Police say many of the knives were kitchen or trade knives, but there were also some "antique and dangerous weapons".
