A two-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a family dog in Cumbria.
Police said the child suffered facial injuries during the incident at an address on Gilbert Road, Cummersdale, near Carlisle at around 2:40pm. He has since undergone surgery at the Cumberland Infirmary.
The dog has been placed in kennels pending a joint investigation with social services, Cumbria Police said.
