10 women farmers are attempting to shear more than 500 sheep in an 8 hour charity marathon. The ladies all live around Newton Stewart in Wigtownshire and are raising money for the town's hospital and the Royal Highland Education Trust.
The event is called Lady Shear 2013 and although all the women work on farms, none are professional shearers. The shearing began at 9am and is due to finish at 5pm.
