Leader of Carlisle City Council appointed

A new Leader of Carlisle City Council has been appointed following the sudden death of Councillor Joe Hendry in May.

Councillor Colin Glover was appointed by fellow councillors at their full council meeting.

“It is a privilege to have been appointed to serve as Leader of Carlisle City Council and to continue the work to deliver the ambitious vision that began under Joe’s leadership.

"The City of Carlisle is a special place and we have every reason to feel confident about our future.

"I am looking forward to working with all our businesses, communities and partners as we write the next chapter in the story of Carlisle together."
