A number of people are mopping up today, July 29, as flash flooding deluged homes and businesses in the region.
Annan was particularly badly hit as police warned motorists to avoid some areas of the town.
Firefighters were busy all morning pumping out properties and clearing water from roads. As the waters recede this evening, residents and businesses are counting the cost.
