Shoppers in Carlisle city centre were treated to an unusual spectacle this afternoon - as giant puppets depicting characters from the local history were put through their paces ahead of their parade this weekend.
Final preparations are underway for the Carlisle pageant - which is expecting to attract more than thirty puppets and thousands of visitors to the city.
