Arctic Star awarded to Langholm man

The Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore, has presented the Arctic Star medal to Peter Irving Stuart for his bravery during the Second World War. He was part of the convoys that travelled from Britain to northern Russia to supply troops fighting the nazis.

The Ministry of Defence only decided in February that men who risked their lives on the convoys to help british allies during the war deserved a medal.
