“We have worked closely with Britain's Energy Coast and Cumbria partners to ensure that this year's Tour of Britain passes through the dramatic scenery of West Cumbria for the very first time.
"I was previously Head of Major Events at the Northwest Development Agency and worked on the early preparations for the Rugby League World Cup so it's fantastic to see West Cumbria also playing its part in hosting another world class major sports event in addition to The Tour of Britain.
"West Cumbria is definitely the place to be this autumn."
