Work to prevent flooding in Galashiels has begun.
The Gala Water flood defence project will reduce flooding to central Galashiels.
Work will disrupt motorists in the Netherdale and Plumtree areas of the town.
It is expected that the work will be completed by summer 2014, and will provide up to 200 years of flood protection.
