Children's playparks throughout Cumbria could become smoke free areas.
Cumbria's Health and Wellbeing Board is seeking the support of district councils to introduce a ban.
It comes after a meeting of the board highlighted the fact that smoking is still the single biggest cause of preventable deaths in Cumbria.
