The MP for Dumfriesshire David Mundell is travelling to the University of Syracuse in America today where there will be commemorations to remember the Lockerbie bombing.
35 students from the university were amongst the 270 victims.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack.
Mr Mundell will join hundreds of others for a rose-laying ceremony at the university on Friday at a wall of remembrance.
Although the anniversary of the bombing of flight Pan Am 103 isn't until the 21st of December, Syracuse University holds its commemoration in October so that students can attend.
