The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued a flood alert for Dumfries and Galloway.
Heavy rain overnight and through this morning has caused a significant rise in river levels, particularly in Dumfriesshire.
SEPA are warning that there is a risk of flooding to low lying land, and a possibility that the Whitesands area of Dumfries may be affected.
