Sir Alan Beith is this week celebrating 40 years as a Liberal MP.
He took the Berwick Upon Tweed seat in 1973 after Antony Lambton stood down.
He has since become Berwick's longest-serving MP and the longest-serving Liberal MP since Lloyd George.
