Mr Paterson says that he is chaining his car to the gates at Brunton Park because of a 45 year dispute over land ownership.
A Carlisle United spokesman said:
"This is a long running dispute that has been ongoing for many years. At the moment the club is taking expert advice on the issue and it would be inappropriate for us to comment any further at this time. "
