Nine people have been rescued by firefighters who are dealing with a fire in a block of flats in Kirkcudbright.
Crews from Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet were called at 1am but due to the size of the fire additional appliances were called from Castle Douglas and Dumfries.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews are currently working alongside colleagues from Police Scotland to resolve the situation.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets have entered the smoke filled flats, with a number of firefighting water jets, to deal with the fire situation.
