Whitehaven Harbour repair work begins

Work us beginning to repair storm damage to Whitehaven Harbour. The structure, part of which is an ancient monument, was badly damaged by huge waves and winds of up to 100 miles per hour in December.

Repair works due to take several weeks

The Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners’ have worked for many years with the Environment Agency in order to protect the town from inundation from the sea within the harbour. Harbour Commissioners’ are delighted with the support and the speed at which the Environment Agency have provided the funding and the technical support. Works are due to start week commencing 3rd March and will be scheduled to finish late March early April."
