A new flag pole at Penrith's Town Hall has been installed to fly flags for Penrith and Cumberland and Westmorland.

It was in response to a request by Penrith Civic Society to add the flags to celebrate the local heritage of the area.

Mr Philip Tibbetts, from Penrith Civic Society, donated a Penrith flag and a Cumberland Flag to the Council and is providing a calendar of dates for occasions when these should be flown.

“Flying these collective flags is a great way to celebrate our local history and civic occasions. This will show the visitors to the area the great pride we have in celebrating our great district, its people and vibrant communities.” - Councillor John Thompson, Eden District Council’s Chairman.
