Police appeal for witnesses of speed camera set on fire

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses after a speed camera was set on fire north of Newtown, St Boswells.

A camera on the southbound carriageway of the A68 is thought to have been set on fire between 11:40pm, Tuesday 29 April and 12.20am, Wednesday 30 April.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene.

"This wanton act of destruction has the potential to put the safety of road users at risk. Speed cameras are in place for a reason and local officers are investigating to identify those responsible."We would urge members of the public who were in the area late on Tuesday night and saw anything suspicious to come forward.
