Murder probe into death of child from Galashiels

Police in Blackpool have launched a murder investigation following the death of a three year old girl from the Scottish Borders.

Officers were called by the Ambulance Service at shortly before 11am yesterday following the report of a child drowning in a swimming pool at the Dalmeny Hotel on South Promenade in St Annes, Lancashire.

The toddler from Galashiels, was removed from the water and taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and then later transported to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

She died in hospital at 8pm last night.

“This is a tragic situation where a young girl has lost her fight for life following an incident at a swimming pool in a hotel in St Annes. “We are now treating this sad death as suspicious and are investigating just how the child has come into difficulties in the pool.”
