Carlisle United have announced their pre-season fixtures which include local opposition in the form of Workington and Penrith ahead of a home clash with Championship newcomers Preston North End.

The Blues are playing six matches in the summer as they build up for the 2015/16 League Two campaign.

  • Blyth Spartans, Away, Tuesday 7 July. Kick-off 7:30pm
  • Workington, Away, Thursday 9 July. Kick-off 7:45pm
  • Penrith, Away, Saturday 11 July, Kick-off 3pm
  • Bradford City, Away, Saturday 25 July, Kick-off 3pm
  • Preston North End, Home, Tuesday 28 July, Kick-off 7:15pm
  • Oldham Athletic, Home, Saturday 1 August, Kick-off 3pm.

"Pre-season has been structured in such a way as to make sure the players are ready to go for the first game of the season.

"The early pre-season fixtures are an opportunity for everyone to get pitch time and develop match fitness, and we then go up against teams which have had success in the cup competitions and with promotion campaigns to round things off.

"Playing against teams from higher divisions will give us an opportunity to test ourselves and fine tune the work we need to do before our first game.

"The Capital One Cup draw and the fixture list are both released in the middle of next week, and things are starting to focus in as we build up to what we think will be an enjoyable campaign."
