Dumfries Whitesands flood defence debate rages on

Campaigners in Dumfries are asking the council to look again at flood defences planned for the Whitesands. In November the council approved the idea of building a raised earth bank along the River Nith, with a walkway and glass panels on top.

However, some local businesses and the 'Save our Sands' group want them to have another look at the idea of barriers that would rise automatically, in the event of flooding. Lori Carnochan reports:
