The Tour of Britain has seen thousands of people line the route between Carlisle and Kendal. The event is expected to bring a big financial boost to the flood-hit county.

Olympic hero Sir Bradley Wiggins has met young fans in Carlisle ahead of the start of Britain's biggest cycle.

Today's stage two of the Tour of Britain runs from Carlisle to Kendal with the race getting underway in Carlisle city centre at 11am.

Before the race Sir Bradley, who has won five Olympic gold medals as well the 2012 Tour de France, this morning visited the Carlisle branch of electrical wholesaler YESSS Electrical.

The company sponsors Wiggins and his cycling team.
