Car stolen and set on fire in Dumfries

Police are appealing for information after a car was stolen and found on fire in Dumfries.

The blue Ford Focus was taken from the driveway of a house in Callum Road in the early hours of Sunday.

The car was later reported on fire in Lochfield Road at around 7:35am on Sunday morning.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but not before the vehicle was extensively damaged.

"We are keen to trace the following described man who was seen in the Callum Road area at around 0345 on Sunday morning.

"He appeared to be ringing doorbells in the street and is described as being in his late 20s, had a beard and was wearing a black jacket.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this car being driven in the Dumfries area in the early hours of Sunday morning. The number of the car is SD 10 XEU."
