The Met office have issued a rain warning for Cumbria and the northwest of England for the week of 5 June. The next few days are expected to to be cooler, with stronger winds and outbreaks of rain and showers.
- Monday: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, locally heavy. The focus for the highest rainfall totals looks like being west of the Pennines, running from southern parts of Cumbria southwards. With the rain continuing all day there will be plenty of surface water building up, which may cause some localised issues affecting roads and possibly properties.
- Monday Night: Rain continuing, but becoming a little lighter and more showery in nature by the end of the night.
- Tuesday: Cloudy with showers in Cumbria and Northwest England. Showers dying out overnight.
- Wednesday to Friday: Remaining unsettled with spells of rain/showers interspersed with drier interludes. The timing of the rain and showers will become clear as the forecast develops in the coming days.
A yellow warning of rain has also been issued, with the Met Office saying up to 80mm of rain is possible by 6am on Tuesday, 6 June, for the southern half of Cumbria.
