A motorist from Jedburgh, Scotland, who was found to be more than five times the legal alcohol limit after being involved in an accident, has been banned from the road for two years at the town's Sheriff Court.

Thirty two year old Alistair McBain of High Street, recorded a breath reading of 115 microgrammes - the legal limit being 22 microgrammes. The court heard McBain struck a car which had been slowing down on the A68 at Ancrum at lunchtime on Friday, June 2.

Ambulance staff at the scene called the police and McBain gave what was described as a "very high level of reading." In addition to the 24 month ban, he was fined £200.
