Plans for a flood protection scheme for Hawick have received 48 objections from the public, which were published today, Friday 18 August. The £41million scheme would be finished by 2022, but complaints may mean lengthy delays to the project.
The complaints are mostly about the size of the wall and blocking off views of the river. Other complaints are about the disruption to the town during construction which could affect business.
There are also warnings that any delays over the complaints could set the project back. A town meeting will be held on the 31 August to address the issues and give further updates on the scheme.
