Boys charged with Hawick war memorial vandalism

Two boys, a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old, have been charged after a war memorial in Hawick was vandalised.

A poppy wreath at Wilton Park War Memorial was set on fire and destroyed on Sunday 1 October.

Officers are continuing to investigate to identify another individual believed to be involved and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

We recognise the distress and anger this incident caused the local community and the public can be reassured that this matter has been investigated robustly.
