Keeping a derelict Carlisle hotel safe has cost taxpayers more than a quarter of a million pounds. The Central Plaza closed in 2004 and has been empty ever since.

Carlisle City Council has revealed it's spent money on the site on 11 separate occasions over the past six years. Funding has paid for repairs to scaffolding and demolition work.
