The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice across the Border region, with 'bitterly cold winds' bringing temperatures not far from freezing.

During Friday between the early hours of the morning until 6pm, 2-5 cm of snow is likely to fall, with icy surfaces forming overnight. This is expected to cause travel delays and cancellations to public transport, with potential interruptions to power supplies.

On Sunday, heavy snow is possible between 4am and 11.55pm. Motorists are warned this could lead to vehicles becoming stranded in difficult driving conditions. Access to rural communities could also be cut off.
