There are delays of around 90 minutes on Virgin Trains West Coast services southbound between Penrith and Lancaster, as well as on Transpennine Express services, because of an obstruction on the line at Oxenholme Lake District.
It's reported that metal has fallen onto part of the track between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme.
Transpennine Express say passengers can travel via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Virgin Trains rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.
