Police appeal for Botchergate crash witnesses

Botchergate Credit: ITV Border

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash that left two pedestrians with serious injuries after a car mounted the pavement.

It happened on Carlisle's Botchergate at around 7pm on Saturday and involved a taxi and a black Ford Fiesta, as well as pedestrians, outside of the Rambler pub.

The Police say this incident was not a deliberate act.

A man in his twenties, from the Whitehaven area, suffered a serious head and back injury and was transferred to the RVI. His condition is said to be not life-threatening.

Another Whitehaven man in his fifties suffered a serious leg injury, with four other people, including a man in his eighties, suffering minor injuries.

We have identified all those involved in the incident. Whilst there have been no arrests made, this is a live investigation and we would urge people to be responsible when discussing this case, particularly online. I would urge anyone who witnessed what took place but has yet to come forward to contact the police immediately referencing incident 206 of 15 September 2018.”
