Skipton singer wins music competition
A woman from Skipton has won a competition aimed at promoting new talent in the the music competition.
25-year-old Jen Armstrong was nominate by Julian Smith, MP for Skipton and Ripon for the Parliamentary competition. She was the winner in the "solo artist" category of the Rock the House Competition.
Jen has been writing and performing music since she was 12 and now works with a band she met at college in Leeds.
She was one of five finalists of hundreds of entries submitted by 165 Members of Parliament and they were all judged by music industry experts.

She performed brilliantly at the Houses of Parliament and, having spoken to some of the music executives present, I know this will be the start of an exciting and successful career.
