Detectives investigating the disappearance of a woman in Halifax nine years ago, have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

It follows a new appeal for information about what happened to 34-year-old Lisa Ambler, who was last seen in the West Yorkshire town in August 2003.

At the time the 34-year-old mother-of-two was living in a tent on Southowram Bank with her boyfriend.

Specialist search teams have been involved in the investigation, which has focused on railway arches near Berry Lane and the canal basin at Salterhebble.

Lisa's disappearance continues to be an open investigation. Inquiries like this are never forgotten about and are always subject to continual review. When new lines of inquiry arise we will always follow them up and, following an extensive review, we are exploring these two opportunities.

Lisa Ambler has two children who are now in their 20s and her mother died two years ago, not knowing what happened to her.

Lisa lived quite a chaotic lifestyle and was sleeping rough at the time of her disappearance. Her family have not heard from her since the day she went missing and there have been no confirmed sightings.
