The life-sized sculpture will be unveiled today at Leeds city station as part of a station tour along the East Coast Main Line to raise awareness of rail travel to London this summer.

It recreates the image of Edwards celebrating with a Union Jack flag after his victory in the triple jump at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

"The sculpture is very striking and really took me aback when I first saw it. It’s incredible to think it was possible to create such a structure from old bits of train, but it has been crafted brilliantly."

– Former athlete, 2012 Olympic committee member Jonathan Edwards
