Mistakes by Bradford Council cost a man with learning difficulties years of funding amounting to over £100,000 according to the Local Government Ombudsman.
In her report, Anne Seex says that the Council wrongly told the Independent Living Fund that 'Mr A' was going into residential care, when in fact he was moving into supported housing.
Had the ILF been given the correct information, 'Mr A' could have received £750 per month which he was entitled to, but in total, the man lost out on £100,000 because of the council's mistake.
Bradford council has since agreed to pay 'Mr A' the money that he lost and also top-up his benefits to cover the money he should now be receiving.
The Ombudsman has also recommended that the council makes an official apology to the man.
