Christmas may be a time of indulgence, but for thousands simply putting food on the table is a struggle.
One "food bank" in Lincolnshire says the problem has become so bad, the number of people coming through its doors has shot up by a third in the last 8 months alone.
Grantham's Food Bank is now looking to relocate to bigger premises to cope with all the extra demand.
The reasons for the rise in the numbers using food banks are many and varied. For some it's being unable to pay for basics such as food, fuel and utilities, but increasingly staff here are seeing the fall-out from redundancy, marital breakdown, and even mental health issues.
As well as the food bank, many local groups and charities have stepped in - donating hundreds of toys and gifts to provide some Christmas cheer. But with more benefit cutbacks in the pipeline, it's likely staff will face an even busier New Year.
