Police are investigating after some rare miniature animals were stolen from a farm near Green Hammerton.

Sometime between 8pm on Wednesday 16 January and 9am on Thursday 17 January 2013, a grey female Zebu cow was stolen from Thorpe Hill Farm, Thorpe Underwood, along with its month-old brown and white calf.

A miniature grey donkey and its foal were also taken.

The Zebu cow originates from the Indian sub-continent and are very distinctive animals with a hump on their shoulders and drooping ears. The stolen cow has further distinguishing features with its left horn pointing upwards as normal but with the right horn pointing forwards.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the theft to come forward.

These animals are very distinctive and are usually only found on petting farms or in wildlife parks.

Obviously, the owners are very keen to get them back and if you have any information that could lead to their return, please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

I would also like to hear from you if you have been offered these unusual animals for sale.
