Roundabout sheep! Would ewe believe it?
Motorists have been forced to pull over after a flock of sheep "appeared" on a roundabout outside one of West Yorkshire's busiest retail parks. The flock of at least 20 sheep were first spotted on Saturday morning on the roundabout at the Birstall Shopping Park, near to junction 27 of the M62. The park, which is home to an Ikea superstore, is visited by thousands of shoppers every day.
Police and Highways Agency officers turned impromptu shepherds as the seemingly indifferent sheep stood their ground. The surrounding roads were closed off and bus passengers faced diversions and delays of up to 40 minutes. It is still unclear where the sheep came from.
– Steve Harwood, local store manager."The road was closed outside so I went to investigate. I have no idea how they came to be there, as to my knowledge, there are no farms nearby."
