The Archbishop of York will join hundreds of soldiers at York Minster today for a remembrance service.

Among them will be the 4th Mechanized Brigade, whose headquarters is at Catterick Garrison. The brigade lost nine soldiers on tour in the last six months.

Last week the Brigade returned to Catterick Garrison and received operational medals.

After the medal presentation at Richmond Castle, the soldiers marched through the streets of Richmond.

The soldiers spent the tour helping the Afghan National Security Forces take on the responsibility for Helmand province.

At the ceremony today will be Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu and the Armed Forces Minister, Andrew Robathan MP.

Family members of injured soldiers and the bereaved are expected to attend the service to honour the life and service of their loved ones.

Military representatives from the US, Danish and Estonian Armies will also be present.
