Runners set off on seven day marathon challenge

If the thought of doing one marathon makes you shudder, imagine doing seven in just seven days might be like. That is the challenge facing two runners from the same office in Leeds who have set off on a challenge that will take them all the way to London.

Neil Jones and Chris Lawrence's journey began this morning, the start of a 198 mile route for charity. It is the equivalent of seven marathons in seven days and is a very personal journey for the two fundraisers:

Neil and Chris have trained every morning for weeks. Today their colleagues at Bupa joined them to walk the first 10K before the run begins. The Chief Executive Stuart Fletcher was there for the first few miles:

The fundraisers hope they will generate £50,000 for Cancer Research UK. Their spokesperson Teresa Hicks joined the crowd of people to wave them off earlier:

The finishing line for Neil and Chris is their company headquarters in London. They will reach it next Friday. You can find out more details about their fundraising challenge by visiting their Just Giving page.
