This Week's Weather Outlook with JON MITCHELL

Flooding in the Lower Derwent Valley Photo: Photo: ENRICO GIACANI

Here we are, a new week and a new month but the same old weather.

Carrying on where the rest of the winter has left off, this week's weather is set to be unsettled with rain at times (as if we needed any more!) Wednesday and Saturday will see Atlantic depressions sweeping in from the south west bringing wet and windy weather.

Tonight (Monday night) will see a band of rain (about two hours worth) spreading in from the west. This will be out of the way by morning though allowing temperatures to fall to 2C, low enough for a few icy patches, especially on higher roads.

Tuesday won't be a bad day; dry for most with sunshine and only a few afternoon showers. Winds will pick up though as temperatures reach 7C

Wet and windy weather will sweep in Tuesday night.

It'll stay windy Wednesday with further showery spells of rain.

Expect sunshine and showers Thursday and Friday along with some drier weather and highs around 8C.

More wet and windy weather is expected next weekend and it will stay on the chilly side but there will be some sunshine too.
