South Yorkshire Police have launched a criminal investigation into the cause of a huge fire at the Asos warehouse near Barnsley. Police believe the blaze had been started 'deliberately' after Initial investigations at the scene this morning. Around 60 firefighters were called to the building at Park Spring Road around 10pm last night. 500 workers were led safely out of the premises and nobody was injured.
– Simon Rodger, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
The fire involved four floors of the warehouse and the blaze was contained in the area of origin by firefighters. Asos staff has a good evacuation process in place which assisted emergency services and allowed the fire to be brought under control more quickly."
