Father who lost daughter to cancer takes on 13 running challenges in her honour

Simon Cross hopes to raise awareness about childhood cancer

A Lincolnshire father who lost his daughter to cancer has completed 13 half marathons in her memory.

Hannah Cross died at the age of 13 from a rare form of the disease. Her dad Simon, who lives in Sleaford, says each of his running challenges has been to celebrate a year of his daughter's life.

Hannah Cross was just 13-years-old when she died from a rare form of cancer

Simon also wanted to raise money for the 'When You Wish Upon a Star' charity which helped the family create memories in the final months of Hannah's life.

The charity helped Hannah meet Father Christmas

During some of the half marathons that were particularly challenging either because I wasn't particularly feeling well or it was a particularly tough course it was the thought of her and what she went through that inspired me to keep going, because I thought well this is nothing compared to what she went through.
