A man has been charged with criminal damage after trouble at a pub in Hull during England's clash with Wales at the European Championships.

The 19-year-old is alleged to have caused damage at The George pub as England won 2-1 in the group stage clash.

A 22-year-old man was also arrested and given a penalty notice for disorder.

Elsewhere, six men were issued with warnings to leave the area to prevent further disorder in the Anlaby Road area.

As expected there were large numbers of people out enjoying the match in pubs across the Humberside Police area yesterday.

“To manage this extra footfall, additional officers provided a high visibility presence to reassure both the public and businesses.

“It was great as the commander of the operation to see so many people coming together across the force area and enjoying the tournament in such a well-mannered way.

“A very small minority did step outside the law and they were quickly identified and arrested."
