Celebrations as GB Paralympians return home

GB Paralympians will be celebrating today with a homecoming at Heathrow airport.

Athletes from the Calendar region won a total of twenty-five medals in Rio, including seventeen golds.

Kadeena Cox carried the GB flag at the closing ceremony after becoming the first Briton in 28 years to win medals in two sports at the same Paralympics.

The 25-year-old from Leeds claimed victory in the C4/C5 500 metres time-trial on the cycling track, just 24 hours after claiming T38 100 metres bronze in athletics.

Cox posted on Instagram:

"Carrying the flag could not have been a better way to end an amazing games n was a surprise I didn't expect. The team has been so successful and I'm proud to have been part of that!! Thank you everyone for your support, means the world. Now it's home time...see you in 11 hours."
